Stop and smell the daffodils
Today is the first day of spring and also St David’s Day - always nostalgic for me, having been brought up in Wales. It’s also my brother, David’s birthday. He underwent major heart surgery in January which was a bit of a shock but he is now recovering well.
It seems that many of us have experienced difficult times over the last few months - illness, bereavement, financial or work worries and the world seems so unstable. If you’re feeling totally overwhelmed by everything, take a leaf out of this beautiful fox’s book and stop to smell the daffodils today. Thanks to the lovely warm spell we’re having, there are so many around this spring.
Remember the Reiki principles:
Just for today....
Do not be angry
Do not worry
Be grateful
Work hard
Be kind to others
Of course, none of us can do all of these things all of the time which is why Dr Mikao Usui, the Japanese founder of Reiki, says, “Just for today”.
Just for today, stop and think about all the good things (and people) in your life and be grateful.
Get out into nature (even if it’s just your garden or the local park), listen to the birds singing and enjoy the moment and just being alive.
Spring is officially here - a time of optimism and new beginnings.
Happy St David’s Day!
Namaste,
Katharine
